The Last, 2024
Alexey ZHUCHKOV

Marble, lead, 30х40 cm.

About a work

The marble sculpture composition "The Last" is dedicated to Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin's final work, "Forgetting the grove and freedom..." (1836). The text of the poem is engraved on the stone, into which a 12 mm lead bullet—a precise replica of the one that fatally wounded the poet—has been embedded.
A pneumatic system was used to shoot the bullet into the marble.
This piece symbolizes the end of Pushkin's life journey and the beginning of his infinite and boundless existence.
