Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin is boundless and international. His works have found expression in various forms of art: visual, literary, musical, as well as in theater, opera, and ballet. For people around the world, Pushkin is a symbol of Russia, but at the same time, he is seen as a part of their own culture. In the works of foreign authors, the characters from his writings take on national characteristics and traits.
Pushkin symbolizes infinity, both in space and time. From a young age, we are introduced to the characters of his fairy tales and grow up with the heroes of his poems. Throughout our lives, we discover new meanings in his works through interpretations by other authors inspired by his legacy.
The exhibition in Kazan features works by 50 artists from 15 countries. Visitors will be able to view pieces inspired by Pushkin, based on his works in various genres, styles, and types of contemporary visual art. These include graphics, paintings, reliefs, sculptures, photographs, multimedia and video installations, and sketches of monumental paintings.
The project includes contributions from esteemed members of the Academy of Arts, students from Russian and foreign universities, as well as young artists from different countries who participated in the international youth competition "Art Unites the World: Boundless Pushkin," supported by Rossotrudnichestvo.
The international youth section of the exhibition includes works by students from China’s Moscow Surikov Art Institute, the Changzhou International Art Institute in China, and the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee.
Artist Mikhail Alekseev was inspired by Pushkin's drama "Boris Godunov" and "Little Tragedies" from the series "The Revival of Unity," as part of his project "Pushkin/Theater/Frame Aesthetics."
A piece from the project "Year of the Family: Drawing Pushkin's Fairy Tales," initiated by the State Academic Capella of St. Petersburg, will also be presented, reflecting the symbolic image of children’s works by the "sun of Russian poetry."
The innovative international section of the exhibition "Art Unites the World: Boundless Pushkin" will showcase augmented reality works by competition participants and artist-teachers. These pieces "come to life," introducing viewers to authors reading excerpts from Pushkin's works in Russian, Tatar, and their native languages. This project is being carried out in collaboration with the Nizhny Novgorod State Linguistic University named after N.A. Dobrolyubov and the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, with technical support from the "Museum Code" project.
